A couple of weeks ago I was staying on Palm Beach with my wife Leah. I got up at daybreak to lead worship at Christ Fellowship for their morning services. I walked out to the seawall and was greeted with this amazing sky God had painted. I just sat there and drank it in. Then…about 150 yards off shore a dolphin (Flipper style) began to leap several feet out of the water! I couldn’t believe it. It just made it’s way down the horizon for as far as a I could see. I wanted to shout and tell someone. I was too mesmerized to try to get a picture with my iPhone. Sometimes I believe God meets us in unexpected ways and reminds us that He’s there, He’s involved, and He’s NOT aloof. It’s like all that was just for me that Sunday morning. Has something like this ever happened to you? Where God met you in an unexpected way? I’d love to hear about it.
Talk soon…

When I first moved to Franklin I used to enjoy beautiful sunsets all of the time on my way home from work. Over the past 6 years, though, I have successfully filled my schedule and my brain so much that I hardly even notice them anymore. I know they are still there–God didn’t stop making beautiful sunsets–I just don’t have the space in my life to enjoy them.
I’m glad you had this experience and I am challenged to make space for God’s beautiful moments in my own life.
Very cool picture Michael! Whenever I need to feel God’s presence – I purposefully admire the beauty in the waves, sky etc. One of the reasons we moved here – was my (though I admit silly) comment that – God seems closer here! I know He is everywhere – and in our hearts – but I love to walk the beach- etc. and be reminded of the beauty he created for us! It centers me. Great post!!! (and Get Well!)
Awesome picture. It is amazing to see something like this and wonder how many other things like it we have missed by being “busy”. It is easy to miss all of the wonder and beautiful things God has given us.
Maybe it was God’s way of saying you belong down here. I’m constantly awed by God’s creations. Once, I was coming home and there were dark clouds that covered the whole sky above and to the sides of me. It was disorienting because it looked like an overpass and I couldn’t recognize landmarks that I’m very familiar with. It was a little frightening but definitely God’s work. Once I got my bearings, I just marvelled at the beauty of it.
Absolutely amazing!!! I love when God paints a portrait, just for me…
Be blessed!
